Sunny is currently working on a new show, X, which will be launched in Brisbane at Metro Arts in April 2012. X uses stop motion animation, puppetry, theatre and movement to explore addiction. Equal parts funny, magcial, absurd and tender, X questions, does the world drive us to addiction?

Performance Biography
34 years in the making, human critter Sunny Drake is a complex piece of art. He lives his creative escapades, is usually in the middle of an art in life experiment, and airs his embarrassing and tender internal world on stage. Sunny is largely self taught and has created his own unique style of multi-genre theatre, which he has been evolving since he was a teenage girl. Sunny has performed in theatres, festivals, living-rooms, streets, work places, deserts, schools, universities, basements, backyards & conferences in Australia, the USA and Canada. He was an artist in residence at the Garage theatre in San Francisco in 2008 and has performed in the San Francisco International Arts Festival (10), NACL Festival (10), USA National Queer Arts Festival (08&10), the San Francisco Fringe Festival (08), New Mardi Gras (Sydney 09&10), Midsumma (Melbourne 09&10), Metro Arts (Brisbane 09), the Brisbane Festivals UNDER THE RADAR (09) and Feast (Adelaide 09&10). Sunny was born and grown on Indigenous Jaggera-Turrabul land (Brisbane) and comes from English and Irish ancestry.
Consultancy Biography
Sunny has over 12 years professional experience in the arts and community sectors, as a consultant, performer, educator, facilitator, strategic planner and project manager. As the inaugural General Manager of Propel Youth Arts, Sunny was instrumental in establishing this state-wide youth arts development and advocacy body in Western Australia. As a consultant, Sunny has worked with a wide variety of organisations including Plan C, Queensland Association for Healthy Communities (QAHC), Open Doors, Contact Inc, Speak Out (now Human), Young People and the Arts Australia (YPAA), Community Arts Network WA and various local governments.

My life is my artwork. I live my creative escapades. Im frequently in the middle of some sort of experiment, either intentionally or not. And then I perform my life on stage. Here are some life projects Im working on.

Project management
Keeping the big picture at the centre whilst taking care of the little details. Over 10 years experience running all levels of projects from grassroots to projects for government.
Facilitation
Engaging and inclusive approaches to facilitating large and small groups including training, creative workshops, community consultation, professional development for project workers & artists, strategic planning. I have facilitated over 250 workshops in the past 12 years. Participants have included young people, Indigenous groups, artists, service providers, performers, sporting groups, seniors, government & schools, in both urban & rural contexts.
Strategic planning
A creative and practical approach to strategic & business planning involving all key stakeholders and focusing on delivering achievable, invigorating and inspiring business plans. Clients have included Propel Youth Arts, Plan C, Contact Inc.
Transgender Education
Informative, enrichening transgender education for organisations, young people, educational institutions or service providers. Education programs can be tailored to suit the needs of the group, vary from 2 hours to day long, and can be delivered with or without a performance. Experience includes: delivered gender & sexuality diversity trainings (day-long) to health workers (via QAHC) - Thursday Island, Townsville, Mackay, Emerald, Gympie, Brisbane (various), Caboolture; various workshops at youth centres in the USA and Australia.
Mentoring & skills development
One-on-one or groups of artists, project managers, young people, arts & community workers. Areas can include any aspect of project management, time management, facilitation, arts management.
